The summer is here and the sun is shining… intermittently, at least. It’s the season for barbecues, holidays and festivals! And while I will be taking some time away from the bench to attend several festivals in my lesser-known guise as a performer, a couple of my very talented friends will be taking their beautiful creations to the fields with touring boutique Secret Emporium.
Secret Garden Party (24th – 27th July) is looking more vibrant and eccentric than ever, and the fantastic Carole Gould will be there selling her handmade headdresses and customised accessories with Bimbo Flamingo. As if these weren’t enough, Carole also has her own jewellery label Lucky Dandy (with co-founder Shona MacSween), offering unique and edgy statement pieces inspired by mythology and the cosmos. Please check out their website or follow them on Facebook.
SGP will be swiftly followed by Wilderness, where Louisa Slade will be showcasing her stunning organic hand-forged pieces, inspired by the mystery and beauty of nature. What could be more fitting in the magical glades and valleys of Oxfordshire? Louisa’s website can be found here, and she can also be found on Facebook.
If you’re at either festival, do go and have a look and treat yourself to something special; they’re fantastic designer-makers creating really beautiful work. I hope you all get to enjoy good old summer sunshine, and maybe I’ll bump in to a few of you in field somewhere!
